It all started with a few friends and a lengthy conversation about gratitude to special people who had impacted various stages of their lives. They mentioned teachers, coaches, spouses, business associates, parents, teammates, siblings, neighbors, sports figures, politicians, grandparents, grandchildren, children, veterans, caregivers....

As they talked, they realized that sadly, these sentiments are rarely communicated--except at funerals and toasts. One obvious place for these expressions, the Web, is all about "me". While there are fan sites and public tributes like the Hollywood Walk of Fame for celebrities, there was no place on the Web for you to applaud or pay tribute to "your" special people -- folks who ought to know how much you value their role in your life.

From that conversation, the concept for Ovational.com was born – an online vault showcasing the world’s most amazing people.

Surprising someone with an "Ovation" is better than a dead-tree card or an e-card. It’s cheaper than building a monument but it's still permanent and public. It's shareable. It's always viewable. It's live and easy to update whenever you have something new to add. Most important, it's a genuinely personal expression, which makes it one-of-a-kind and a treasure to the recipient.

Ovational.com is about:

  • Having a perpetual global virtual location where people from all walks of life can express their love, admiration, gratitude and adulation for those who have touched their lives positively.
  • Being able to celebrate the goodness in others while they are alive, vibrant and being.
  • Telling not only the person -- but the world -- that certain individuals who touch your life deserve a "Standing 'O'" -- a true Ovation for all they mean to you.
  • Creating a public permanent living tribute that you can update as often as you want as special occasions occur and special memories with a person are made over time.
  • Having a place where you may even want to create an anonymous Ovation for someone who you think deserves applause.
  • Taking the emphasis off of "I/me" and placing it on others.
  • Publicly expressing love.  Do you do it enough?
